Got Control? Well, we know of 56 drivers that now have a better sense of car control as a result of their participation in our Car Control Clinic. This event was held on May 23 at the New Meadowlands parking Lot J. You cannot believe how fantastic 1 million sqare feet of fresh pavement looks to an Autocrosser!!
The day started out at 6:00am for the wonderful volunteers who set the course and the registration desk. Special thanks to Bill Gilbert, Robert Ida, Dennis and Marlys Thovson, Drew Karpinski and the Rutherford Fire Department for their help in making this a successful event. A special thank you to our Instructors, all 29 of you, who supported this event and made it possible for each driver to have a dedicated instructor for the whole event. |

As this spring turns into distant memory, NNJR autocrossers can look foreword to an exciting season ahead. During the spring session we again scheduled and held our two popular schools, the Car Control Clinic and Autocross School and a season opener at PNC. The Car Control Clinic was held at the new Meadowlands lot and boy is it big and smooth. We will be hosting three autocross events at the Meadowlands – New Giants/Jets Stadium parking lots later in the season. This venue along with the Road Course at Englishtown and others yet to be determined will fill out the year for us. |

Taking over the reigns of the NNJR PCA Autocross Program was no easy task and now that our season is fully underway, we wanted to take this opportunity to thank everyone who helped us get this program up and running. There is a tremendous amount of behind the scenes work that goes into getting the program off the ground. The help provided by our previous chairs, volunteers and several most experienced Board of Governors members has made our transition into the 2010 season flawless. We cannot stress how important the continued support of our volunteer base is and how greatly appreciated it is by all involved. Without the volunteer support, the program would undoubtedly fail. Did anyone see 611? Well, Tom and I pulled off our first Autocross event, phew!!
First, we want to thank all the volunteers who pitched in and made it all happen, made us look good, and covered all our mistakes. Thanks gang: you guys and gals are the best. This first event was held at the PNC South lot, which really needs some work. Nonetheless, Bill Gilbert set a course that was not only challenging and fun, but missed all the major pot-holes. We thank you… and my suspension thanks you. Did anyone see 611?

Ok gang, here we go. After an incredible effort, we finally have a schedule for the 2010 season. The first event is on April 11 at PNC so get your car ready, shave those tires, tighten up that suspension and get ready to drive the course as fast as you can. Be sure to be there as we are trying to organize a special FTD prize – we were thinking that a $10,000 or $20,000 prize will be just right to start the year off. BTW, we have yet to receive the “appropriate” FTD “contributions” as of this date (remember that FTD’s are $50 each) so we may not be able to pay out the prize money.
